Maybe I'm just tired of shopping, but I found this week's deals to be really uninspiring. So what do I do when this happens? Panic? Starve? Buy things I don't want just to get the deal? No way.
I opt out. There is no rule that says you have to pay too much for your groceries just because there are no good deals. I'll probably purchase the very best deals, milk, eggs, and produce. Beyond that, I'll pull heavily from our stockpile this week. If the meals are less that spectacular for one week, it's no big deal.
So what about my budget? Sometimes it would be wise to use the extra money for other budget shortfalls. Thankfully, we don't need to do that. Instead, I will tuck the money away for a great deal that comes along later. For instance, ground turkey (the really lean stuff) was on sale several months ago for .99/lb. Unfortunately, I only had enough money in the budget for 6 lbs. I won't make that mistake again. If I had to do it over, I would stockpile 20 or more pounds.
So never fear. The great deals will roll around another week, and when they do, you can have some extra money to enjoy them with!
