Who says you have to give million dollar endowments to be philanthropic? Start where you are!
I am having a great time knitting and crocheting preemie hats for Nurses for Newborns. A friend of our family is collecting these hats as part of her work toward the Girl Scout Silver Award. If you are interested in knitting or crocheting preemie to 6 month size hats, please let me know. I can set up a central drop off point. This is a great way to encourage families at a difficult time, to use up your yarn leftovers, and to experiment and learn new techniques on small inexpensive projects. I will need to collect all hats by Aug. 7th.
Here are a few free patterns I have really enjoyed creating:
Crochet Favorite: This one is easy, cute, and looks very comfy for a baby.
No seams—so there is almost no finishing work
Knit:
Easy and attractive, knitted on two needles with a side seam.
Knitted on DPNs: A soft beautiful hat. Great if
you are already proficient with double point needles, or you want to learn.
As always, I pray that someone blesses you with a small act of kindness this week.
